Just released; the route of the 2010 Etape du Tour which will see riders tackle the Col de Marie-Blanque, Col du Soulor with the finish at the summit of the Col du Tourmalet. The event takes place on Sunday 18th July. That should focus the mind during the long winter training months. Thanks to Steve Bolt for the info.

And the full route for the pros.

Me and steve Clare went to see the final in Paris this year, highly recommend it, great atmophere, all the sweeter with the Manx missile taking the sprint................ |

The descent from the Col du Soulor is enjoyable but not amazing. The prospect of only going down the Tourmalet after the finish, possibly in the cold and with thousands of other riders doing the same at the same time doesn't feel great. I did think about doing it again next year, but I would have to be convinced... |
